Wow, this is a great IPA. It has an awesome nose. Right when you crack this guy open the hops fill the air. It has your American IPA citrussyness, but it is definitely different than something like a Racer 5. This guys has more of a grapefruit taste to it versus more of a lemon/orange citrus flavor you normally get out of a beer brewed with Cascade hops. I am stumped as to what type of hops go in here, but damn it is good. The malt is sweet but perfectly balanced out by the bitterness of the hops. I have to say, this guy, at least for me, is way better than Pliny the Elder and worth the $4.30 a pint. It is a little sweeter than Pliny and not as close to as bitter. I can actually drink these all day versus stopping at about 4 or 5 with the Pliny. Wow, as I drink it right now, every sip fills my nose with an awesome hop aroma and flavor and so so smooth…must, not, jizz, in, pants…

I have been drinking Blind Pig for a while and it is one of my favorite IPA’s. I agree… very smooth… If you really want to experience what Russian River has to offer, head over to The Hopyard Brewery in San Ramon. They always have Blind Pig and Pliny on tap, as well as many others!!
